For those who love the classic Western Saddle but need something shorter and lighter, DP has built something almost unheard of: A Western Saddle on an English tree! This amazing saddle is built on the fabulous DP Ultra-Flex tree with fully adjustable gullet width from narrow to extra wide. It has wool flocked panels for optimum horse comfort. No more flat hard panels like standard western saddles. The fluffy wool flocked panels will conform to the horse’s conformation over time creating a cozy custom fit. With a softly padded seat, this saddle is ideal for long trail rides as well as the show ring (horned models).
This Quantum Western Saddle 1215 differs from the Quantum Western Short and Light 1216 in that it is just slightly longer and slightly heavier. However, you will find them to be much lighter and shorter than your standard western models. The panels on this 1215 saddle model are deeper on the sides of the horse for more support and weight distribution. When I see pictures of your horse's conformation and back shape, we can discuss which model will be best suited.
The other fabulous feature is that these Quantum saddles are available in the standard western seat as well as a “Western Dressage Seat”. Yes, you read correctly! The Western Dressage seat has the seat shape of a dressage saddle, featuring a more narrow twist. This design also sets the fenders back 1 cm to more closely align your weight with the dressage seat balance. We’ve thought of everything!! The Quantum Western Saddles with Dressage Seat (and horn) have all the other bells and whistles to make them USDF legal for competing in Western Dressage!
Additionally, the fenders can be easily “unhooked” from the saddle if you need to replace or exchange them. Does it get any better than that? I have a client who shares her saddle with her growing son. They change the fenders between the medium and short fender lengths. We set her up with two matching pairs.
So, here are the Quantum western models and their differences. Stats are approximate for comparison and based on the S2 seat:
1214: No Horn, 21” saddle length, 19 lbs. weight
1215: Horn, 22.5” saddle length, 22 lbs. weight
1216: Horn, 21” saddle length, 20 lbs. weight
